7. The
week long trip to Hawaii taken by Dan Hooper and the McConnell Singers
was a huge success. They performed at three different occasions to
very receptive and appreciative audiences.
The first performance was a
Sunday worship service at Kawaiha'o Church, the oldest church on Oahu
where the group received a standing ovation.
The second performance was
that evening at the Punchbowl National Cemetery, located in a defunct
volcanic crater. The group participated in a candlelight service
honoring Viet Nam War veterans and victims. The McConnell Singers
sang two songs, "God Bless the U.S.A." and "Amazing
Grace".
Monday, Memorial Day, was
the third perfomance where they sang on the lawn beside the Bowfin
Submarine Museum in Pearl Harbor. A twenty minute all-patriotic
concert was performed within view of the Arizona Memorial.
Congratulations to Dan
and the McConnell Singers on such a successful trip. Thank you for
being such great ambassadors for Phoenix College.
