I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday vacation with friends and loved ones. As we begin 2004 with many New Year’s goals and resolutions, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you back to a new and exciting Spring semester. A special thanks goes to the Phoenix College safety officers who had to work during the break to keep our campus secure and M&O/Crafts employees who utilize this break to enhance our facilities.
Please pardon our appearance. The President’s Reception area is currently under construction to create a more effective workspace. We hope to have the office back to normal soon. We appreciate your patience. Achievements • Dr. Rose Pfefferbaum, Gerontology, was the lead author of an article published in the November 2003 issue of the Journal of the Oklahoma State Medical Association. Her article was entitled Psychological Issues Associated with Terrorism: A Guide for Physicians. Congratulations! • Congratulations go out to Nelly Peterson for being named the new president of the Filipino Nurses Association for 2004-2006. She has also been given the opportunity to mentor one of the officers of the Student Nurses Association. Reminders • Phoenix College will once again host the Maricopa College District Faculty Convocation 2004 on January 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bulpitt Auditorium. The title of this convocation is “What All Educators Should Know About Learning and the Human Brain: Neuroscience and Brain-Considerate Learning.” For more information, please visit the web site at: www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/fsd/c2004 • There will be two college-wide meetings during the Spring Semester.
