1.  Congratulations are in order for associate dean of instruction, Wilbert Nelson.  He will be honored by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office with the Power of Partnership Award on Tuesday, December 14, 2004.  Mr. Nelson will be recognized for his participation on the Victim Compensation Board.

2.  Liz Ligon, Chair of the Health Enhancement Department, shares self-care tips for the holiday season.  Following are just a few:

  • Reduce expectations of planned events - focus on the enjoyment of being together.
  • Create some structure and activities when groups gather. 
  • Ask for help with preparations; give everyone a job to do - be sure to let them know they are needed and appreciated for their contribution, no matter how small.

    3. The date for the Spring New Student Orientation is January 8, 2005.  More information about the New Student Orientation may be obtained by calling 602-285-7771.

    4.  PC's Higher Learning Commission liaison, Diane Nyhammer, was scheduled to visit Phoenix College during the second week in January 2005.  Her office notified us that she is unable to make this visit and the new date of March 24, 2005 has been tentatively scheduled.

           

    5.                       End of Year Celebration

        When:  Thursday, December 16, 2004
        Time:  10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
        Location:  Bulpitt Auditorium and Auditorium Lawn

    Please note that the End of Year Celebration will be held on Thursday, instead of on Friday.  The final exam schedule reflects no finals taking place between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.  Also, many faculty and staff will be starting their holiday vacations on Friday the 17th.  We apologize for any inconvenience and we encourage everyone to participate.
