Phoenix College All-American shortstop Chelsie Mesa signed today a full ride scholarship with the top-ranked University of Arizona Softball Program.

Mike Candrea, Head Coach of the University of Arizona and the 2004 U.S Olympic Coach, stated that this will be his first junior college softball player that can come in and start right away as a middle infielder.

Mesa will play the 2005 season at PC and then begin classes at Arizona in the Fall of 2005. She is rated as one of the best, if not the best, infielders in the NJCAA. Mesa was a 2004 NJCAA and NFCA All-American and the MVP of last year's National Championships. She also earned First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All NJCAA Region I. Mesa currently has a 3.63 grade point average.
