PC Soccer Announces Signings for 2004 Phoenix College Head Women's Soccer Coach Morgan Lee announced today the signing of Ruth Thomason, Jenalie Martinie, and Alexa Pupo to play soccer for the Bears in 2004. Phoenix College Women's Soccer signed Ruth Thomason on Saturday to an NJCAA National Letter of Intent for the 2004 Women's Soccer Season. Ruth is a 2003-2004 1st Team All-Region player from Coconino High School. In addition, she was voted by her High School team as the 2003-2004 "Spark Plug" and "Most Valuable Defender" Awards winner. Ruth will be looking to contribute to the Bears Women's Soccer Program as a defender, while wearing the # 18 jersey. While at Phoenix College, she plans on starting her education in Architecture. "Ruth will be a valuable asset to any program...I am just glad that we (Phoenix College) snagged her before someone else did. She brings with her an abundance of skill and a fiery, competitive attitude. We are looking for good things from Ruth in the next two years." Jenalie Martinie comes to PC via Greenway High School, where she has been a 4-year varsity player. She was a 2001-2002 All-Region Honorable Mention selection, a 2002-2003 2nd Team All-Region selection, and a 2003-2004 1st Team All-Region selection. In addition, Jenalie is a member of the Greenway High School Principle's List and Honor Roll. Recently, she was notified that she is on the AIA Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Jenalie will be attending PC to study Dental Hygiene. She is being added to the Women's Soccer Team as a Goalkeeper and will be wearing the the # 1 jersey next season. "Jenalie will be one of two freshman keepers next year....which means that she will battling for the starting position. I believe that with her experience and skill she has the ability to earn the starting role. Regardless of her role on the field, I am pleased that she has joined us because she is just such a pleasure to be around." Alexa Pupo is joining PC by way of Centennial High School, where she has been a 2002-2003 2nd Team All-Region Selection and a 2003-2004 2nd Team All-Region Selection. Alexa also takes care of business in the the classroom. She is on the Centennial High School Honor Roll and will be graduating in the top 11% of the class. Centennial High School Head Girl's Soccer Coach Russ Dunham said "You could not be getting a better kid....on or off the field." Alexa will be attending Phoenix College on a Presidential Scholarship and will be studying Education. She will be looking to contribute in a defense or midfield position next season, while wearing the # 22 jersey. "I am so pleased with Alexa's choice to attend Phoenix College. She has every tool that I like my student-athletes to have. She has skill, determination, and dedication on the field and in the classroom." "We are so pleased with the acquisition of these three
young ladies. I believe that they will have every opportunity to contribute
immediately. All of them bring good skills and wonderful attitudes to
our program. I could not be more proud that they chose Phoenix College
as the place to continue their athletic and academic career."
