Fourth at Nationals

The Phoenix College Bears finished fourth in the 2007 NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.

On the opening day of the tournament, PC defeated McHenry County College 3-1 and then battled to a 3-2 victory over Illinois Central. Phoenix opened play on day two against the defending national champions Kishwaukee in the semifinals. Kishwaukee earned a spot in the title match once again with a three-game shutout of eh Bears.

On Saturday night, the Bears faced off against Southwestern Illinois in the third place match. Southwestern Illinois proved to be too strong for PC, which fell in three straight. Lisa Doremus and Rita Gonzalez earned All-Tournament Team honors. Doremus averaged 3.0 kills and 3.75 digs per game, while Gonzalez averaged over 10 assists per game.
