Central Arizona Completes
Perfect Season as National Champs — The
Vaqueras completed a perfect 35-0 season with a 78-71 victory
over Jefferson (MO) College in the NJCAA Division I National
Championship game. For Central Ariozona, it is the program's
fourth National Championship. Jefferson jumped out early against
Central, grabbing a 30-17 lead. The Vaqueras responded with
a 17-0 run to take a 43-38 lead into halftime. The squads
battled back and forth in the second half before Central used
an 11-0 run late to seal the victory. Tenaya Watson led Central
with a game-high 30 points, while Precious Robinson added
19 points and 12 rebounds.
Pima Places Third in
Nation at D2 Tourney — Pima
entered the 2009 NJCAA Division II National Championships
as the number three seed and completed the season third after
defeating Parkland 69-55 in the consolation game. Pima won
its opener 50-47 over Kankakee before falling to Schoolcroft
71-65 in the semifinal round.

Advance to Nationals — Top-seed
Central Arizona defeated #2 Arizona Western to capture the
NJCAA Region I Division I Championship and advance to the
DI National Championships. In the Region I Division II Championship
game, #2 Pima defeated #4 seed Glendale 61-47 to advance to

for the second straight week, Morrison averaged 21 points

& Morrison — Yavapai's
Danielle Reiher led the Roughrider to a pair of ACCAC wins
to earn the ACCAC Division I Player of the Week honor. Pima's
Tia Morrison won the ACCAC Division II award for the second
time this season as she averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds

Western's Arpine Amirkhanyan and Scottsdale's Shayla Washington
each averaged double figures in scoring and rebound and led

Honors — Precious Robinson

NJCAA Division I National Player of the Week honor for the
week ending December 10, 2008. Mesa's Brooke Jackson garnered
NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week honors after
poting games of 31 points and 2 points in a pair of wins.

Jackson & Johnson Share DII Award — Central
Arizona's Precious Robinson averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds
to earn the ACCAC Division I Player of he Week honor, while
Mesa's Brooke Jackson (26 points, 6 assists per game) and
South Mountain's Katie Johnson (24 pointa and 15 rebounds
per game) were tabbed the Division II Co-Players of the Week.

Glendale Sets NJCAA
Scoring Record — Glendale
defeated Little Big Horn College (CO) 136-87 onOctober 31,
2008. The 136 points sets a NJCAA Division II single game
scoring record, breaking the previous top mark of 133 points
by Kirkwood (IA) during the 1992-93 season.
Morton, Trotter Garner
ACCAC Honors — Arizona Western's
Yohanna Morton averaged 26 points in a pair of Arizona Western
victories to earn ACCAC Division 1 Player of the Week honors.
Chandler-Gilbert's D'Seanda Trotter averaged 31 points in
