Central Arizona
Completes Perfect Season as National Champs
The Vaqueras completed a perfect
35-0 season with a 78-71 victory over Jefferson (MO)
College in the NJCAA Division I National Championship
game. For Central Ariozona, it is the program's fourth
National Championship. Jefferson jumped out early
against Central, grabbing a 30-17 lead. The Vaqueras
responded with a 17-0 run to take a 43-38 lead into
halftime. The squads battled back and forth in the
second half before Central used an 11-0 run late to
seal the victory. Tenaya Watson led Central with a
game-high 30 points, while Precious Robinson added
19 points and 12 rebounds.
Pima Places
Third in Nation at D2 Tourney Pima
entered the 2009 NJCAA Division II National Championships
as the number three seed and completed the season
third after defeating Parkland 69-55 in the consolation
game. Pima won its opener 50-47 over Kankakee before
falling to Schoolcroft 71-65 in the semifinal round.

Arizona Advance to Nationals Top-seed
Central Arizona defeated #2 Arizona Western to capture
the NJCAA Region I Division I Championship and advance
to the DI National Championships. In the Region I
Division II Championship game, #2 Pima defeated #4
seed Glendale 61-47 to advance to the DII Nationals.

Glendale Sets
NJCAA Scoring Record Glendale
defeated Little Big Horn College (CO) 136-87 onOctober
31, 2008. The 136 points sets a NJCAA Division II
single game scoring record, breaking the previous
top mark of 133 points by Kirkwood (IA) during the
1992-93 season.

of Arizona Western victories to earn ACCAC Division
