COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Scottsdale Community College
(Ariz.) forward Justin Ashbaugh and Essex County Community
College's (N.J.) John Pringle have been named NJCAA Men's
Division II Basketball Players of the Week for contests
ending Dec. 3.
A 6-5 forward from Scottsdale, Ariz., Ashbaugh
posted three consecutive double-double performances in three
contests last week. On Nov. 28 he tallied 26 points, 14 rebounds,
two steals and two assists in Scottsdale's 70-60 win over
Central Lakes (Minn.). Against cross-town foe Mesa Community
College (NJCAA Division I) he posted 22 points, 17 rebounds,
five assists and two blocks in a 100-86 victory. Then, in
an 88-67 loss to Cochise College (Ariz., NJCAA Division I)
on Dec. 2, Ashbaugh scored 14 and grabbed 10 rebounds along
with two steals and two assists. Ashbaugh finished the week
shooting 75 percent from the field, including 50 percent from
three-point range and 88 percent from the free throw line.
Pringle, a 6-7 forward from Mays Landing, N.J., collected
46 total rebounds over a two game span for Essex County College
last week. He grabbed 22 rebounds, scored 15 points, blocked
five shots and forced four steals in a 71-65 loss to Middlesex
County College on Nov. 30. Then on Dec. 2 he tallied 24 rebounds,
18 points, three blocked shots and two assists in Essex's
69-64 win over Burlington Community College.
