Arizona Western
Upsets Cochise for Region 1 DI Championship
#2 seed Arizona Western travelled to #1 seed Cochise
and did something that no other team had done all season.
Arizona Western became the first team to defeat Cochise
on its home court, winning 83-77 in overtime and advancing
to the NJCAA Men's Basketball Division 1 National Championship
in Hutchinson, Kansas, as the NJCAA Region 1 Champion.

Top Seeds to
Meet for Region I Division II Championship
#1 seed Cochise and #2 seed Arizona Western both posted
semifinal victories and will play each other for the
title on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Cochise. Cochise advanced
by defeating Mesa 104-98 while Arizona Western defeated
Eastern Arizona 87-66. |

Phoenix College
Captures Region 1 Division II Title
The top-seeded Bears of Phoenix College captured the
NJCAA Region 1 Division II Championship with a 75-61
victory over Scottsdale. The Bears title is the first
for the program in five years and advances PC into the
District Tournament. PC will travel to Harrison, Arkansas,
to face North Arkansas on Friday, March 10, at 7:00
p.m. (CST).
Scottsdale Advances
to Region I Division II Title Game
#3 seed Scottsdale defeated #2 seed Chandler-Gilbert
71-66 to advance to the championship game of the NJCAA
Region I Division II Tournament. Scottsdale will travel
to top seed Phoenix College on March 8th at 7:30 p.m.

NJCAA Region
I Men's Tourney Set to Tip-Off March 6th
The NJCAA Region I Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. on March 6th when #3 seed
Scottsdale travels to #2 seed Chandler-Gilbert. The
two squads will be playing to join #1 seed Phoenix in
the title game. In the Division I Tournament, #4 Mesa
plays at #1 seed Cochise and #2 sed Arizona Western
host #3 Eastern Arizona at 7:30 p.m. on March 9th. |
