Mickey Wheeler, a 6-1 guard from Scottsdale Community College, is the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 8, 2005. Wheeler helped Scottsdale to a 1-1 record with a win over Chandler-Gilbert (68-55) that snapped the Artichokes 13-game losing streak. Scottsdale fell to South Mountain 79-72 in overtime earlier in the week. Against South Mountain Wheeler had 13 points, 13 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. In the win over Chandler-Gilbert he recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. On the week he averaged 14 points and 11.5 assists and shot 50% from the floor (9-of-18) and 80% from the free-throw line (8-of-10).
