PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

WILLIE SHAW
Central Arizona
(week ending Dec. 5, 2004)
Willie Shaw of Central Arizona
is the ACCAC Player of the Week for the week ending
December 5th. Shaw, a sophomore from Alexandria, Virginia,
helped the Vaqueros to a perfect 3-0 week by posting
a double-double in each outing. Against Southwestern,
he had 15 points and 16 rebounds. Shaw then tallied
24 points and crashed the boards for 23 rebounds against
Pima and posted 14 points and 10 rebounds against
Yavapai.

NATE PERRY
Mesa
(week ending Dec. 12, 2004)
Nate Perry of Mesa is the ACCAC
Player of the Week for the week ending December
12. Perry helped the Thuinderbirds to a 2-1 record
on the week. He had 28 points and seven rebounds
in a 79-73 loss to Conference co-leader Arizona
Western and just missed a triple-double with a 19
points, 10 rebounds and eight assists against Southwestern.
Perry ended the week with a 30-point and 21-rebound
effort against Glendale.

ORLANDO GRIEGO
Cochise
(week ending Jan. 9, 2005)
Cochise's Orlando Griego is
the ACCAC Player of the Week for the week ending
January 9, 2005. Griego helped the Apaches to
three victories last week and had a double-double
in all three games. In a 72-60 win over New Mexico
JC, Griego had 32 points and 10 rebounds. He followed
that outing with a 13-point and
13-rebound effort against Howard College. In Cochise's
third win, Griego had 27 points and
10 rebounds.

SONE FINISTER
Eastern Arizona
(week ending Jan. 16, 2005)
Eastern Arizona's Sone Finister
is the ACCAC Player of the Week for the week
ending January 16th. Finiste, helped the Gila
Monsters to two ACCAC wins last week over Scottsdale
and Pima. In the win over Scottsdale, Finister
scored 18 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, while
posting 12 points and 14 rebounds against Pima.

AMES
South Mountain
(week ending Jan. 23, 2005)
South Mountain's Rayshaun
Ames is the ACCAC Mens Player of the Week
for the week ending January 23. Ames helped
the Cougars to a 2-1 record last week with
wins over Grand Canyon JV and Central Arizona.
He tallied 27 points and 10 boards in the
Grand Canyon game and 18 points and 10 boards
against Central Arizona. In South's 82-67
loss to Eastern Arizona, Ames scored a game-high
32 points.

BARFIELD
Mesa
(week ending Jan. 30, 2005)
Mesa's Quinn Barfield
is the ACCAC Men's Basketball Player of
the Week for the week ending January 30.
Barfield helped the T-Birds to a 1-1 ACCAC
record last week. In Mesa's victory over
Yavapai, he scored 30 points, pulled down
13 rebounds and had seven steals. In a loss
to South Mountain, Barfield posted 22 points
and five rebounds.

Scottsdale
(week ending Feb. 6, 2005)
Scottsdale's Mickey
Wheeler is the ACCAC Mens' Basketball
Player of the Week for the week ending
February 6. Wheeler had a 13 point and
13 assist effort in an overtime loss to
South Mountain. He then took matters into
his own hands with a triple double of
15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists
in a 68-55 win over Chandler-Gilbert.

AMES
South Mountain
(week ending Feb. 13, 2005)
Rayshaun Ames of South
Mountain, is the ACCAC Men's Player
of the Week. Ames helped the Cougars
to two victories last week, by notching
a double-double in both win. He had
19 points and 14 rebounds in a win over
Pima, and he had 22 points and 11 boards
against Yavapai.

(week ending Feb. 20, 2005)
Cochise's Orlando
Griego is the ACCAC Men's Basketball
Player of the Week for the week ending
February 20. Griego helped the Apaches
to a pair of Conference wins last
week. In Cochise's 100-78 win over
Pima, he had 25 points and 13 rebounds.
Griego then led Cochise to an 86-81
win at Yavapai with 17 points and
9 rebounds.

(week ending Feb. 27, 2005)
Yavapai's Sterling
Byrd is the ACCAC Men's Basketball
Player of the Week for the week
ending February 27. Byrd helped
the Roughriders to a split of last
week's games, including a two-point
loss to undefeated Arizona Western.
Byrd had 28 points and nine rebounds
in the 69-67 loss to the Matadors,
but led Yavapai to a 21-point victory
over Eastern Arizona with a 14-point
and 11-rebound effort.
