Using art as a form of communication
A plaster mask making workshop designed by Martinez to incite self awareness, is both for children and adults of all ages. The project incorporates plaster mask making, painting, and collage as means to create a story telling object. The finished art work, the mask, becomes a 3-dimensional self portrait. In the process of creating the art, participants are asked to answer various questions including; Who am I?, What am I?, What is this world and what is my relationship to it?
