  Introduction


Although we name oceans and seas as if they were separate entities they are actually part of one big interconnected system. Since the world is a big place, it is helpful to know the various parts by name. In this exercise you will study some of the major subdivisions of the world ocean and their locations on the globe.

Examine the photographs of the oceans and seas depicted below. Learn their locations by examining their positions relative to the continents and to each other.

Be sure to write about what you are learning in the lab section of your notebook. You will be expected to answer questions about the lab activity during the lab self test and lab quiz. It helps to have your text and coloring books open beside you for support.
