Library Resources and Services
Resources
- Persistent Links to Articles from Library Databases
You can link to full-text articles from PC Library databases to create dynamic reading lists for your students. This feature is available on or off campus. Instructions
- Persistent Links to E-books from Ebrary
Ebrary is a collection of ebooks, electronic versions of printed books on all different topics. You can create links to ebrary content to accompany a specific course. This feature is available on or off campus. Instructions
- Student Off-Campus Access to PC Electronic Library Resources
A student uses the 13-digit library card number on the back of their PC Student ID, along with a 4-digit PIN, to access library resources from off-campus. The PIN is usually the last 4 digits of the student's phone number. An online student might not have a current Student ID. So each semester, the Library creates a temporary ID number that these students can use. Contact Michelle Dyer-Hurdon (602-285-7823) or Linda Frakes (602-285-7480) for the current ID number, which you may share with your students.
Services
- Ask a Librarian
Ask a Librarian is a collaborative 24/7 virtual reference service of MCCCD. Librarians from all 10 colleges are available online, in real time, to help with any information or research need. You may add a link to Ask a Librarian in your online course.
- Invite a Librarian to Join a Discussion
LTD can add a PC librarian to your online class as a Teaching Assistant. Librarians can then join in on discussions when your students begin working on class assignments that utilize library resources and/or research papers.
- Customized Research Guides
PC librarians can help design a “custom” research guide of links to library resources that are selected and organized based on the specific needs of your course.
