Medical Coding Hospital-Based Certificate Program Receives National Approval

The Phoenix College Medical Coding Hospital-Based Certificate Program received national approval by the Council on Accreditation of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in September 2004. The Program is designed to prepare individuals for entry level diagnostic and procedure coding positions in hospital-based settings. It includes theoretical and laboratory instruction on campus as well as professional practice training in an area health care setting. The program is the only approved coding program within the Maricopa Community Colleges.
