
Music Business and Audio Technology
The Music Business and Audio Technology program at Phoenix College offers a unique combination of musical and technical training, and the opportunity to become proficient with a broad range of musically-useful technologies while building a firm foundation in the musical arts. It prepares students for a variety of careers in studio recording, live sound reinforcement, electronic composition, and music business-related fields.
Studio Recording courses cover audio systems theory, analog and digital electronics, live recording and sound reinforcement, multitrack studio recording/processing/mixing, and digital audio workstations.
Electronic Music courses cover the full MIDI specification, electronic studio setup, sequencing using state-of-the-art hardware and software, and computer-based sound synthesis. In addition, courses are offered covering topics including computer-based notation, composition, and experimental music techniques.
State-of-the-art facilities for the Music Technology program include the fourteen-station Center for Music Technology & Studio Recording, and Studios A (large) and B (small) for recording and mixing.
