Mission
As part of the Phoenix College campus community, the Department of Art recognizes the rapid and complex social changes in our community.
We as a faculty are continuing to develop a comprehensive program of visual art studies to fit the needs of our students. The Art Department offers classes in art appreciation, art history, studio and the vocational/occupational areas of art. The department also serves the local visual art community by directing the Phoenix College Art Gallery, offering a variety of art workshops and participating with professional community arts organizations/artists.
Goals
- To maintain and develop curriculum and activities to meet the interests of the students.
- To promote through innovation a profile that reflects creativity in our community.
- Continue collaborative efforts between the Phoenix College Art Department and professional organizations, businesses and culturally diverse groups.
- Maintain and strengthen networking between all levels of the various academic institutions found in our community.
- Be responsive and adaptive to changes in technological advances impacting the visual arts / graphics media.
