New Fine Arts Building

After two years of planning, Phoenix College held the groundbreaking for a new Fine Arts Building on November 20, 2007. The new Fine Arts Building will have a great impact on student learning, with larger studio classrooms—and less shared studio space—with individual areas for Watercolor/Foundations, Painting, and Drawing. The new building will also feature larger and more functional Ceramics and Photography Studios, including both darkroom and digital lab facilities. The new building will open January 2009.

The Computer Graphics labs, Commercial Photography, and Video Studios will also be expanded. There will be a multifunctional 75-seat lecture hall with flexible seating and state-of-the-art digital media capabilities.

The new Fine Arts Gallery will be the centerpiece of the building. This beautiful facility will allow Phoenix College to be more involved in the arts community. Phoenix College anticipates the gallery to become a local arts hub. The first international show is scheduled for March of 2009, with an exhibit of contemporary Chinese ceramic artists, who are making the Phoenix College Gallery the first stop on their national tour.

Follow the progress of the new Fine Arts Building here. New photos will be added as significant developments occur.
